Happy Rain

Happy Rain, and my gutter runneth over.

Rain has fallen all around me, even just a mile away, but I have had no rain except a spatter now and then for weeks. Last night we finally had a storm and the thunder and lightning awoke me to the thunder of rain falling on the front porch roof right outside my window, and my gutters overflowing as well adding to the din. It was a happy sound, and I could run around and close the windows, left open for weeks in the heat, before I had floods of rain coming into the house. That was a serious rain.

This morning came another downpour, no crashing of thunder, no aerial dramatics of lightning, just a few big raindrops that began pattering the leaves, then more, then more and more until the yard was filled with the silver of falling rain, and once again my gutters runneth over. This was a very happy rain.
