Derelict: 2010

House overgrown with trees

Derelict

Someone lived here just a few years ago, this house clinging to the edge of a steep slope at a tight bend in a one-lane road, really just a paved cow path down the hill. It’s quite large with many rooms, and extends down the hill off the road, and has a lovely view, yet it’s sided with Insul-brick and has several additions, each of a different style and material. I imagine a large family grew up there, generations of family. When the place still had windows a couple of years ago and wasn’t so overgrown I for some reason imagined an unhappy teen sitting in one of the upstairs bedroom windows, hating this ugly house and wishing themselves somewhere else. And that may just be what happened.
